| The
Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel |
Built
during the presidency of Jeremiah Rankin (1890-1903),
the Chapel was named after Jeremiah Rankin’s
brother Andrew, whose widow contributed $5,000
to the building fund. It
has served many purposes, from Sunday services and
memorial services to art exhibitions. A National
Historic Landmark, the building continues to serve
as a place of worship, although Sunday chapel services
are often held in Cramton Auditorium due to Howard's
large student population.
