General Information

The Systems department of the University Library is charged with the primary responsibility of developming a forward-looking approach to the use of technology in the library and off site, both proactively and reactively.

  • Provides and ensures a strong library integrated technology environment that is consistent with current industry standards, with the campus IT environment, and with that of the library and information community at large.
  • Engages in researching and testing innovative ways of providing access to information and services, both for patrons and library operations.
  • Interfaces with and works with ISAS to integrate existing library networking infrastructure with the next generation campus backbone.
  • Maintains and operates an integrated library system to support effective and convenient access to a wide range of electronic information sources--bibliographic, full text, multimedia and numeric--from any networked computer on campus, or through dial-up access via HUNet, or authenticated commercial ISPs connections outside HUNet.
