PROGRAM & DESIGN CONCEPTS

The new Library helps fulfill the needs of the Health Sciences Schools and Medical Center by providing the following:

• A new Central Quad and Building – that creates a Identifiable Place and Focused Image for the Complex,

• An internal “Commons” - as a social center for the Health Center’s students, faculty, research and clinical professionals,

• Presentation/Meeting Spaces – for professional development and programs of outreach to the community,

• Information and Knowledge Management Services – that link multi-discipline users with expert Information Specialists

• High-tech Classrooms and Labs – that enrich the curriculum (ex. Biomedical Informatics) and provide pro-active development, training and application of Information Technology,

• Individual Workstations, Small Group Spaces and Computer Labs – for individual research & team projects,

• Informatics Faculty and Library Offices – for efficient and convenient collaboration,

• Historical and Special Collections – a prestigious center for research and presentations related to the University’s contribution to Medical Science
