Teaches mass media & society; multiculturalism and media; Black press history. Authored or co-authored four books and has been a professional journalist and editor for news media organizations including the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press, Los Angeles Sentinel and Sepca magazine. His latest book is A History of the Black Press, completing work begun by the late Dr. Armistead Pride and published by Howard University Press.
