RTVF AT HU Workshops

The Department of Radio, Television and Film is an interdisciplinary, student-oriented department with a unique vision for teaching audio and visual media production, telecommunications management and critical studies. Our uniqueness is reflected in a pedagogy that melds academic and creative scholarship as well as the classroom and community as venues of teaching. Our aim is to empower and equip students with the skills and tools necessary to promote liberation from social, political economic and cultural injustice.

Mission

  • To provide a scholarly, humanistic and professional education that prepares students to become socially and culturally sensitive, highly skilled communicators.
  • To create and disseminate knowledge in the form of traditional academic scholarship and scholarly creativity, including visual and audio media productions.
  • To produce innovative, socially conscious media producers, critics, researchers, entrepreneurs, scholars, managers and policy-makers.
  • To promote and enhance the well-being of youth, African-Americans and people of color through service learning and research.
