This support also enables the University to attract the nation's best students and faculty and offer them the finest academic resources and learning environment.

The generous support and dedicated commitment of donors like you, allows the University to continue raising academic standards and bolster the quality of education offered to students. These achievements ultimately strengthen the University's standing as one of the finest institutions nationally and internationally. In the heart of central campus lies a room in the Howard Center that comes alive each evening with the energy and excitement of students. Their mission is to increase Annual Fund participation among alumni, while also establishing ties with those who are not able to come back to campus. As a matter of fact, these students are the key element to increasing Annual Fund participation and to the Annual Fund's overall success.

When you are contacted, the student will first make sure that your mailing address (including e-mail) and employment information are correct, then update you on any recent news or upcoming events on campus. The student will then ask for your support of this year’s Annual Fund Campaign. Your gifts help to support academic needs at the University, such as scholarships and library resources.

When you make a pledge by phone, you will receive confirmation by mail. You may designate the pledge to a particular program or fund if you so desire. Upon request, we will send you additional information. We hope that you will be able to participate and to ensure that Howard will maintain its reputation for academic excellence – now, and for future generations!

Our callers are committed to assisting us with maintaining and improving the Howard experience for current and future students. These students value the quality education that they receive at Howard, and they realize the life-long advantages that it provides. For this reason, our TeleCenter callers are not only contacting alumni, parents and friends to ask for support, but they are also calling to thank them for the great opportunities and experiences that they are receiving at Howard!

Your class reunion is a very special time - a time to return to campus, reunite with old friends and perhaps reconnect with a favorite professor. It is a time to remember your earlier years and reflect on all the things that you have gained from your time spent in the classrooms, on the playing fields and in the dormitories of the University. It is a time to come back and most importantly, an opportunity to give back!

Many of your experiences at the University were the direct result of generous people that came before you. We thank all of you who have returned the favor by contributing generously year after year to help maintain the excellent programs at Howard. In this, your reunion year, we encourage you to give generously to help future generations of Howardites. Your donations will help to support a special gift to represent your class. This gift will be presented to the President at the annual All Classes Reunion Luncheon.

A monetary donation is not the only way to return the favor; your time is also an invaluable asset. Two committees of your classmates guide each reunion program. The Reunion Gift Committee determines which gift will best exemplify the spirit of your graduating class. The Class Planning Committee determines what activities would encourage the most classmates to return and participate in Reunion events.

MAKE AN IMPACT---Give Today

Family Fund is the University’s annual giving program for faculty, staff, and retirees. It has been vigorously supported thanks to the ongoing support of the Howard Family. Contributions to the Family Fund have a direct impact on the entire community by improving academic programs, funding undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships, enhancing existing programs, making capital improvements, and increasing library acquisitions.

A significant goal of the annual Faculty and Staff Campaign is to encourage donations and increase participation from our Family members. Since 1995, more than $5 million has been contributed by our Family. This is a tremendous achievement in which we take enormous pride. The success of the Family Fund is an expression of the collective confidence in the University.

Making a gift to the Howard Family Fund helps build a stronger institution for the entire community. Gifts of any size are greatly appreciated and make a significant impact when combined with thousands of others. Gift of property, or in-kind-gifts, are counted just like cash. When we receive your gift or $100 or more, you are automatically enrolled in one of our annual Donor Capstone Societies.

Increasing the Howard community participation in the Family Fund is vital to our success.

Leaving a legacy at the University has also been important to many faculty and staff. Charitable estate planning is easily directed through the Family Fund with planned gifts such as bequests through Wills, life insurance gifts, gift annuities, remainder trusts, and real estate donations.

Your gift is important to us. You may wish to pledge your support by using the online pledge form. Various methods of payments are available to you, simply choose payroll deduction, credit card or direct bill. If you wish to make a cash gift, attach your cash or check to the pledge form and mail to the Howard Annual Giving Office, 9th Floor Howard Center, Washington, DC 20059. The choice is yours. For additional information, please contact the Annual Giving Office at (202) 238-2441.
