HUAA Election 2002
Ms. Mayo received her B.S. (1975) and M.A. (1977) degrees from Howard University and her law degree (1989) from the University of California, Berkeley. Ms. Mayo has worked on behalf of HUAA for many years, holding three national offices. She was elected Recording Secretary from 1994-1996, Vice President from 1996-1999, and recently re-elected National President. Ms. Mayo has been National President of HUAA since 2000. During her first term, she accomplished the following major goals during her administration: (1) to revitalize HUAA by increasing our membership; (2) to revive the HUAA newsletter to ensure that the membership is informed about national initiatives, the activities of various clubs and associations, and fellow alumni; (3) to utilize the HUAA structure to raise money for the University; (4) to facilitate the adoption of the proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws by Howard's Board of Trustees; and (5) to improve the relationship between alumni and the University. Ms. Mayo has been
active in the San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Club since the early 1980's.
She has served as Treasurer and is the current Membership Chair. She has
also planned and hosted receptions for the President, deans and
administrators. In recognition of her talents and commitment to the community, Ms. Mayo was honored and received a "Woman of Excellence" award in June 1999. Ms. Mayo practices law with the San Francisco law firm of Pillsbury Madison & Sutro. She is a member of both the California and District of Columbia bars. For more
