Ms. Marshall is currently the Vice President of the Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA).   In her role as Vice President, she volunteered to serve as the Membership Chairperson as well as the Fund-raising Chairperson. Prior to holding her current office, Ms. Marshall was a member of the HUAA Executive Council.Sheila D. Marshall served for four years as the President of the Howard University Alumni Club of the District of Columbia.  Prior to Ms. Marshall’s local presidency, she held other offices in the DC alumni club.  Her many years of service in the DC alumni club and in the national alumni association reflect her consistent and loyal commitment to her alma mater.

In addition to doing substantial volunteer work for Howard University, Ms. Marshall is a member of the DC chapter of the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs and an active participant in Process Work DC, a group exploring urban social processes such as intolerance, racism, privilege, and deep democracy.  Ms. Marshall, a native Washingtonian, has tutored in elementary schools in DC, taught job preparation workshops for DC high school students and was a Big Sister.  She is a member of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund Inter-alumni Council.  Ms. Marshall is a member of the Howard University Women’s Club and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.  Ms. Marshall is the interim Vice President of “Bison Express,” an organization created to encourage and to facilitate the financial support of Howard University athletics.

If re-elected as Vice President of HUAA, Ms. Marshall shall continue to support President Swygert’s strategic framework for action.   To this end, her goals include greatly expanding the membership of HUAA, creating vehicles for fund-raising for HUAA, and increasing alumni awareness of HU activities and initiatives.  During Ms. Marshall’s current term, HUAA membership has increased over 200% and the HUAA has increased its visibility in support of HU athletics.

As a supporter and dedicated alumni, I solicit your votes for the position as Vice-President of HUAA.
