Region
I Chair Candidate

Nakeeta Wills
SB
BBA '2000
|
| I
want people to remember me for my
charisma and dedicated leadership
skills. I believe being the Region
1 Chairperson will enable me to use
my skill set to promote closer affiliation
between the HUAA network and the North
Atlantic Region, because we are bonded
by a common unit. I find it exciting
to have the opportunity to align myself
with the activities of the regional
HUAC. As Regional Chair I, I will
strengthen the alumnae bond to Howard
University by identifying potential
opportunities that further promote
the university’s primary objectives.
The Regional Chair position will also
provide an ideal opportunity to keep
the region abreast of the recent accomplishments
and upcoming changes at our esteemed
alma mater. Finally, my practical
experience with the HUAC of NYC and
lifelong commitment to Howard University
have both prepared and qualified me
to carry on the university’s
mission of leadership in the global
community. In
addition to my three year experience
on the HUAC of NYC Student Recruitment
Committee, I come armed with an
unprecedented amount of enthusiasm
and valor. To my credit, I have
embraced a winning attitude and
have used it to fuse with some of
the nations best and brightest to
pass the spirit of instilling the
legacy and vision of Howard University.
I
am also confident that I can take
on the responsibility of this position
because I have shadowed recruitment
activity from two perspectives.
I was honored to have shadowed both
seasoned local recruiters and the
HU home admissions team. With their
involvement, I had the opportunity
to create and strengthen a network
with several HU campus offices throughout
the year. As a local representative,
I am also in touch with the HU Alumni
community throughout New York City.
Finally, my participation as regional
chair will inevitably bring outlets
of additional support from my affiliation
with the community at large, from
both social and professional organizations.
