We are only one month away from the largest HUAA event of the year, Bison on the Vineyard (BOV) 2011.  On August 24-28th, Howard University alumni, supporters and friends will attend networking, fundraising and educational activities that promote Howard University. Howard Presents "New" College of Pharmacy

 

HU News Room -  The Howard University School of Pharmacy is nowWutoh  the College of Pharmacy, a freestanding entity, and no longer part of the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.

 

The new college was recreated July 1 as part of the University's ongoing Academic Renewal, giving Howard University 13 schools and colleges. Anthony K. Wutoh, Ph.D., a registered pharmacist, was named dean of the college and is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the college's programs.   Click here  to read more.

Seven Members of the Howard Tennis Team Achieve National ITA Scholar-Athlete Award Status

HU Tennis Team  

Five women and two men qualified for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's 2011 National ITA Scholar-Athlete's Award.  The award is given annually to tennis student-athletes who are varsity letter winners, have grade point averages of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.  Click here to read more.

On September 17, 2011, the 105 Voices of History will host their annual Celebrate Healthy HBCUs National Walk.  This walk salutes

Howard Homecoming Photo Contest

 

To celebrate  87 years of memorable and magical moments, the 2011 Homecoming Steering Committee cordially invites alumni to share their warmest recollections of homecoming through candid photographs. The contest calls for photographs that capture the essence of Howard University's unique and irreplaceable Homecoming experience.

 

The contest is an extension of the "87 Years Campaign."   The Campaign celebrates homecoming's rich legacy and tradition in the spirit of "PRESTIGE" by providing a specially minted commemorative coin for members. The winning photograph will serve as the 2011 Commemorative Homecoming Button. The button will be submitted to the Archives of the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center for inclusion in its repository. Click here to read more.

HUAA Connects with Alumni at the 2011 Essence Music Festival

The Howard University Alumni Association Region V participated in the 2011 Essence Music Festival (EMF) Market Place at the Ernest Morial Convention Center July 1-3, 2011 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The Essence Music Festival is the largest festival gathering of African Americans in the country.  In 2009, HUAA was the first HBCU Alumni Association to participate in the EMF Market Place.

 

HUAA hosted a booth where HUAA leadership and Region V HUAA members distributed membership material to alumni and recruitment material to potential students and parents. Region V RepresentativeDesiree Ross, Region V Chair Brian Jackson,  HUAA PresidentKimberly Singleton and Patrick Scott from the Howard University Office of Admissions attended the booth. 

 

The weekend activities included a young alumni Happy Hour hosted by former undergraduate trustee Jabari Smith on July 1st at the Bridge Lounge and an Alumni/Student dinner hosted by HUAA Region V at Ralph and Kacoo's later that evening .

The Howard University Alumni Club of Metropolitan Trenton hosted their Annual Flapjack Scholarship Fundraiser on Saturday,June 4, 2011.  The event took place at Applebee's Grill & Bar in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

The Howard University Alumni Club of Hampton Roadssponsored seven young women, ages two through sixteen, in the Urban League of Hampton Roads'  9th Annual Mother-Daughter-Sister Tea on June 25, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Norfolk,Virginia. Proceeds from this event support the Educational, Economic and Health programs offered by the Urban League of Hampton Roads, Inc. Workshops to build self-esteem are among the program activities.

 

The participants included HUAC of Hampton Roads President IolaElijah-Redden, Treasurer Tatanya WilliamAhizzia Gilbert, Ardrianne Parks,Lanise Robinson, Stacy Gresham and the young ladies:Anastasia Hardy, Tahji Bulluck, Tanaya Bulluck, Tya Robinson, TiaGreshamand Amber Camp. The club thanks Sareeta M.C.
