About Last Year's Alternative Spring Break...

In 2007 the University experienced an unprecedented number of students with hearts for service volunteering to spend their break helping the people of New Orleans who are still in despair more than two years after the region was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. More than 500 undergraduate, graduate and law school students boarded eleven buses bound for New Orleans to fulfill the promise made to the people of New Orleans last year by our President, H. Patrick Swygert as he greeted the returning ASB 2006 students, “This is not a one and done; this will be a consistent effort. Our students made us very proud, and this demonstrates to our friends from the Gulf Coast region that we are still engaged, still involved, and we still love them.”
