The
nearly 30 students and
Howard University faculty
and staff who are volunteering
in Haiti will work on
a variety of projects.
They will tutor students
in math and English
at Ecole Bon Samaritan
Orphanage and School,
which houses 18 orphans
and teaches another
150 students.
It sits about a mile
west of Port-au-Prince,
the nation’s capital.
They are also helping
to improve the school’s
infratructure.
They are also teaching
at the Haitian American
Caucus school compound,
also near Port-au-Prince.
Volunteers will also
work with women who
have been raped and
sexually assaulted after
being displaced from
their homes by the hurricane
and they will help with
the issue of child slavery
in Haiti.
