If you are interested in being trained to recognize the warning signs of suicide or to know how to get help and offer hope, the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is holding a training session from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mental Health Clinic, 530 College Street, NW, corner of 6th and College streets. This event is a community dialogue that we host multiple time in the year, in Difft states, setup like a town hall meeting. Our 2012 topic discusses the displacement of the black male in the schools, the family position as fathers and in the community. This is hosted by the We Speak Association based in Atlanta and serves as our non profit community give back event as speakers serving their community. Each yr the topic changes and our venues vary state to state.

As an ongoing part of our efforts to improve efficiency and streamline the student enrollment processes, the University has implemented the following student service enhancements that are effective immediately:

* The payment deadline is July 1st for the Fall semester of the 2012 - 2013 academic year. All payments and third-party payment authorizations for the Fall 2012 semester must be received on or before this date. The Spring 2013 payment deadline is December 17, 2012.
* Full payments may be made online via BisonWeb (www.howard.edu/bisonweb/)
* Installment Plan enrollment will begin May 1, 2012 for the Fall 2012 semester and may be completed online via BisonWeb (www.howard.edu/bisonweb/).
* The Priority Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Deadline is February 1st. If you have not completed your FAFSA, please do so immediately online at www.fafsa.gov.
* All financial aid documents (including federal verification documents, Special Circumstances Appeals, Independent Status Petitions and Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals) are due on or before May 18, 2012.
* Donor scholarship applications will be available online on or before April 1st, 2012 at www.howard.edu/financialaid/download.htm.
* All students are encouraged to monitor their validation status online via BisonWeb.

These processing enhancements are being made to expedite the financial aid packaging and validation processes. Students may also view updated information on the BisonWeb homepage and the Student Financial Services Frequently Asked Questions site. Student-specific inquiries may be submitted to our online ticketing system at: http://www.howard.edu/financialaid/contacts/staff-finaid.htm. We wish you a successful spring 2012 semester.

Howard University NOAA Center for Atmospheric Science hosts annual summer weather camps each summer *CAREERS: Channeling Atmospheric Research into Educational Experiences Reaching Students. Camps are being sponsored in Washington, DC, Mayaguez, PR, Jackson, MS, and El Paso, TX. The goals of the program are:

To provide broad exposure and training for high school students in weather forecasting, environmental modeling, and measurements;

To encourage bright underrepresented students to consider science and engineering education and careers in college and beyond through dissemination of educational and career opportunities in atmospheric sciences; and

To increase the talent pipeline of students pursuing studies in science and engineering in college.
