"Automorphisms of algebraic, tropical, and non-Archimedean curves"
(Lecture/Discussion)
Prof. Amy Ksir, U.S. Naval Academy
Abstract:
I will give an introduction to algebraic curves (Riemann surfaces), tropical algebraic curves (with "max plus" algebra), and the strange and beautiful analytic curves over non-Archimedean fields that form a connection
between them. These analytic curves were introduced by Berkovich in the 90's and much recent work has been done by Matt Baker and others on their relationship to tropical geometry. I will then discuss current work I'm doing
with Caroline Melles on the automorphism groups of all three types of objects, and their relationships.
