Walmart Celebrates Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month 2013, Walmart will host four historical events featuring modern day African-American heroes and high-profiled celebrities who will share their secret to success with Walmart associates and community members. The panel discussion titled, "Overcoming African-American Business Obstacles," will be held on Thursday, February 21, at 7:00pm in Cramton Auditorium at Howard University.
Walmart "History Teaching History" is an ongoing national education and community-focused campaign that gives African-American heroes a platform to share their considerable knowledge and keys to success with young, aspiring hopefuls. The program seeks to engage young people by exposing them to relevant, inspirational individuals in their community who can share their own stories of success. Individuals who have previously participated in History Teaching History include Soledad O'Brien, Will Packer, Rev. Joseph Lowery, Judy Smith (ABC's Scandal) and several Tuskegee airmen. is a website where community members can watch the live stream of the program, view exclusive photos and videos of previous History Teaching History events and download more information on the Living Legends.
