"The Continuing Adventures of a Nonlinear Chemist at the Interface of Disciplines"
(Lecture/Discussion)
Dr. Vernon Morris, Chemistry Dept. Chairman
My research portfolio has been anything but a linear progression from the training in graduate school and postdoctoral experiences. More than anything else, I believe that my scientific path is a testament to the inherent interdisciplinarity of the field of chemistry. I will highlight several current projects within my research group in an attempt to illustrate that a chemist need not be constrained by the temporal and spatial scales of the bench nor by traditional perspectives on the boundaries between disciplines. In particular, I will discuss the relationship between the evolution of the surface composition of sub-micron aerosols, aerosol nucleation properties, atmospheric chemistry, public health, and global climate.
