Students launched a program to donate hundreds of backpacks to schools in Washington, D.C. and the Caribbean. “Lili’s Backpack Project” is headed by the Howard University Caribbean Students Association and named after its creator, Liane “Lili” Stephens-Henry. The students hope to collect 500 bags before May 15. The Department of Residence Life is supporting the project, and the dorms will have bins for students and staff to drop off their backpacks. Two District schools in the Deanwood community have been identified as beneficiaries....more
