Howard University hosted First Lady Michelle Obama

Howard University hosted First Lady Michelle Obama and students from Chicago’s public schools. Obama met with juniors and seniors from Chicago public high schools who were on the first day of a four-day visit to Howard sponsored by the Chicago People’s Union (CPU). The program is designed to immerse talented high school students in a college campus environment. Howard’s 146th Commencement

More than 1,800 students will receive their degrees during Howard’s 146th Commencement on May 10 at 10 a.m. on the Upper Quadrangle of the main campus. Entrepreneur and entertainment mogul Sean Combs will deliver the keynote address and receive an honorary degree. Four others will be honored during the ceremony—Indra K. Nooyi, chair and chief executive officer of PepsiCo.; Benny Golson, internationally renowned jazz legend; Wolf Blitzer, CNN’s lead political anchor; and Clive Callender, M.D., the first physician to perform a transplant at Howard University Hospital and an advocate for increasing organ and tissue donorship in minority communities.
