Voices from the Hill

Happy New Year! Thank you to everyone who responded to the past two issues of “Voices From the Hill.” Below are the responses to the questions for this issue: What is your New Year’s Resolution? If you’ve broken a resolution in the past, what will you do differently this year to keep your new resolution?

My New Year’s Resolution is to be more productive with my weekends. Unlike my many past weekends, I plan to press outward a little more—short-trips, arts and culture. Rest and relaxation is important to me and, in many cases, a restful weekend is always my hope. However, we are all learning that life is short. I plan to make my weekends count and to enjoy the excitement coming my way!

— Kenyatta A. Hobson

i resolve
(i re-solve)
to finish this poem
or at least to quit it
sometime

i resolve
to breathe
to live
to speak
to blink
to think
to feel
to move
to the beat        or not
   to see     truly

these are my re-solutions
solutions again
be it further resolved
be it
be

i resolve

to be
