Edward Hill Jr., sports information director, and Ted White, former Bison quarterback from 1995-98, were among the five members selected to the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Hall of Fame class.
Doris R. Corbett, Ph.D., sport sociologist, professor and chair of the Department of Health, Human Performance & Leisure Studies, was one of 13 individuals honored by ESPN on the program “Realizing the Dream.”

Senior education major Marquis Smith was named one of four Allstate Give Back Day Heroes, a program honoring those who have a commitment to volunteerism and who have followed in the footsteps of Martin Luther King Jr. Smith regularly mentors youth with America’s Promise, helps prepare meals for the homeless at Sunday Suppers and is an intern with Heart of America.
Sophomore photography major Winter Coleman’s photos are featured in the newly released Michael Jackson “This is It” video. Her two photos are the clear candle through glass and the first MJ star on the Walk of Fame.
The Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) Chapter at Howard University, Gamma Chapter of D.C., was one of 22 chapters rated 1 or 1.5 on the national PBK committee’s rating scale determined by the chapters’ 2008-2009 annual reports. That means that the University’s chapter will be among those considered for the Exemplary Chapter Award that is presented to three chapters (from institutions of varying sizes) at the next Triennial Council meeting of PBK in 2012.
Déjà Vu, the 2009 Bison Yearbook, won the first place award in the American Scholastic Press Association’s annual yearbook competition. The yearbook received the award for excellence in the fields of writing, photography and page design.
