About CSO

Mission
The Howard University Career Services Office provides dynamic career development services that successfully engage, empower, and connect students, employers, and the university community in the career development process; while creating an innovative and thriving center that promotes career opportunities, effective job search strategies, and the development of 21st Century workforce leaders.

Objectives

1. To educate all Howard University students and alumni in the lifelong process of successfully developing, accessing, and managing career opportunities.
2. To provide individual consulting to students and alumni to explore career possibilities, identify relevant campus-wide resources, and to design targeted career development strategies.
3. To provide students and alumni with direct access to career opportunities through Career Fairs, On-Campus Recruitment Interviews, web site information and linkages, employer information sessions, and coordination of various networking activities.
4. To design and deliver effective career development training programs to educate students on current career development issues, challenges, and advancement strategies.
5. To develop and manage quality working relationships with student organizations, employers, alumni, and faculty to inspire mutual learning and to support career development programs and services.

Directs and manages all office activities and initiatives. Designs and develops program development strategies and resources. Consults students, employers and academic units on best practices in career development issues. Conducts walk-in and scheduled student appointments. Designs and delivers career and professional development training. Consults employers on diversity retention and recruitment issues. Manages program budget.

Manages Fall and Spring Career Week activities inclusive of all career and graduate school fairs, presentations, workshops and receptions. Coordinates university-wide internship program. Conducts individual and group career consultation sessions during walk-in hours and by appointment.

Coordinate On-Campus Recruitment Program and employer relations initiatives. Develop, market, and manage recruitment schedule. Assist with the development and delivery of career training, and conduct select consulting appointments with students.
Sekelle O'Brien
Special Events and Web Content Coordinator
Senior student intern who reviews, edits and updates website content. Develops and organizes student outreach activities, in conjunction with the Director. Assists students and employers on resource issues.

Kendra Simon
Technology Coordinator and Webmaster

Graduate Intern who coordinates technology initiatives and development for the Career Services Office. Serves as the Webmaster for the Career Services Online web site.

Antennille Springer
Administrative Assistant
