Promote the Career Fair

Dear Faculty Partners,

In exactly seven days close to 100 employers will converge in the Blackburn Center Ballroom to participate in the 11th annual Winter/Spring Career Exploration Fair on Wednesday, January 30, 2013.   We invite you to partner with CEDAR again this semester as we present Howard University’s finest talent to the employment community.  Because of your support of past events, hundreds of students were able to compete for and successfully secure internship and full-time employment opportunities across the country.  Click here to view a full listing of the registered employers.  

As we make final preparations for the 2013 Career Week, we solicit your support and assistance in promoting the events to your students.  Here are some key ways that you can help us promote student participation to ensure that participating employers achieve their recruitment goals and students are ready and able to take full advantage of the employment opportunities being showcased:

• Collaborate with the CEDAR Center by actively promoting the Career Exploration Week in your classes and among your colleagues within your respective departments. Click here to download an event flyer for your students.
• Encourage your students to participate in the career week activities - Career Fest on Monday and Tuesday; 11th Annual Winter/Spring Career Exploration Fair on Wednesday; On-Campus Interviews on Thursday and Friday - and offer extra credit for participating.
• Download and distribute the event information and require students to pre-register with the CEDAR Center and for the Career Fair.
• Assign a writing project for your students to attend and evaluate their experience at the Career Exploration Fair, telling how the experience will help to guide their academic and career pursuits.
• Report the feedback you receive from your students to us, so that we can continue to improve our program delivery and constituent satisfaction.

• Review the Week at-a-Glance
• Get instructions on how to register with the CEDAR Center (required for career fair participation)

• Acquire important event information and navigational tips that will increase their chances of securing an internship or full-time employment opportunity.
• Preview the list of participating employers and their profiles.

We also invite you to attend the event and take some time to make connections with participating recruiters who might be willing to give real-world presentations to your classes that tie together the concepts, theories, and practices of your discipline.
