The purpose of the Alumni Advisory Board (AAB) is to provide an official venue through which alumni can participate in the growth and direction of the Howard University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). AAB members leverage their post-graduate experience in academia and industry to provide support and drive positive change in the department. Working in close collaboration with the department chair and faculty, AAB members provide solutions to identified challenges.
Membership in the AAB is open to all alumni of the ECE department. AAB members hold bi-annual meetings during the academic year including an August meeting that coincides with the faculty retreat. In addition to these meetings, several conference calls are scheduled throughout the year, as needed.
The current agenda of the AAB is to support the ECE department and College of Engineering in the pursuit of an entrepreneurial attitude among the students, faculty and staff:
- Technology & Entrepreneurship Course
- Systems Engineering Course (to be introduced in the fall of 2006/7)
- Streamlining the University Patent Disclosure Process
The AAB works in conjunction with several other organizations in support of the university. Most notably, the AAB has collaborated with the HU CEACS Alumni Club .
