The Student Leadership Institute was established in the belief that every student has leadership potential that can be developed through training, mentoring and practice.

The Student Leadership Institute is co-sponsored by the Black & Veatch Corporation and the College of Engineering, Architecture and Computer Science.

Purpose of the Institute

The Institute’s purpose is to enhance the professional skills of CEACS students by exposing them to leadership techniques early in their college experience.

Goals of the Institute

The goals of the Institute are to:

· Strengthen students’ human relation skills in preparation for the challenges of a more diverse workforce.
· Provide students with the necessary resources to assume leadership roles beyond campus life.
·Develop emerging leaders who can contribute to the global community.
·Help students achieve their full potential.

Theme of the Institute: Leadership: Today, Tomorrow: Meeting the Needs of the Global Community

The theme of the Institute embodies the principles of leadership including the practice of modeling the way for others, building trust which enables other to act, and confidently expressing an attractive image of the future so that others will want to follow.

Who Should Attend the Student Leadership Institute

All CEACS students are strongly encouraged to attend at least one Institute. Institute graduates believe they have gained valuable knowledge and consider it a wise investment of their time. There is no cost to students and meals are provided for two days.
