In her role as Assistant Director for Student Leadership Development & Community Service, Ms.  Norkia Baker actively collaborates with elected, appointed and emerging student leaders to develop and implement activities related to campus life and a diverse spectrum of student involvement.  She is also committed to advising student leaders to organize University Wide service projects that engage the Howard University community.

Prior to joining Howard University, Ms. Baker served as the Special Projects Coordinator for the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League.  There she provided leadership and administrative support through a comprehensive array of services which included civic engagement, project management, and public relations based services.  She is most proud of having the opportunity to develop and implement programs for the Achievement Matters! Campaign, an initiative of the National Urban League.

Outside of her university commitments, Ms. Baker actively participates in several professional associations and serves as a special events and marketing consultant. She is also an active alum of Public Allies Delaware, a national public service program.  She remains financially active & involved in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, a community-based organization devoted primarily to developing programs and services for the advancement of women.
