Apply for Spring, 2014 Graduation

Eligible students may apply for May 2014 graduation via Bison Web from Monday, November 4 - Friday, February 14. The self-service graduation application eliminates the labor intensive paper process for students and staff, ensures data integrity, allows flexibility in reporting, improves operational inter-departmental processes, and increases efficiency and effectiveness. Applying for Graduation via this method is available for students who will have the requisite number of credits and GPA to graduate. However, eligible undergraduate and graduate students must meet with their advisor to obtain the appropriate clearance to apply.

On-line Course Override & Total Withdrawal Forms

Effective August 26, 2013, the Office of the Registrar will launch online processes for Course Override Requests and Total Withdrawal transactions. This action has been taken in response to the Provost's strategic plan to leverage technology for the efficient processing of information. The solution will automate, simplify and direct the flow of information through various individuals and business units on campus.

Requests can be initiated from a computer or mobile device and forwarded via Howard University email to the appropriate individuals or departments. Once initiated, requests sent to or received from non- HU email accounts will not be processed. Recipients will be notified of pending submissions and have 48 hours to review, approve or deny the request. Students will have the ability to determine when the request is in the routing process at any given time. A Users Guide will be available shortly.

It is our sincere hope the utilization of electronic forms and digital signatures will result in improved operational efficiency and customer service.

Apply for Fall, 2013 Graduation

Eligible students may apply for December 2013 graduation via Bison Web from Monday, September 16 - Friday, December 6. The self-service graduation application eliminates the labor intensive paper process for students and staff, ensures data integrity, allows flexibility in reporting, improves operational inter-departmental processes, and increases efficiency and effectiveness. Applying for Graduation via this method is available for students who will have the requisite number of credits and GPA to graduate. However, eligible undergraduate and graduate students must with their advisor to obtain the appropriate clearance to apply.

On-line Enrollment Verification Services

Effective Monday, August 12, enrollment verification services will be provided to students through Bison Web at no cost, 24 hours a day, by the National Student Clearinghouse. Students may request an enrollment verification, view enrollment information, student loan deferment notifications, enrollment verifications provided to third parties and via student self-service, and specific information about their student loans.

The verification should be attached to any form provided by a third party and returned directly to the requester. Verifications can be used for insurance companies, scholarships, military identification cards, prospective employment, student housing and all other services that require proof of enrollment at Howard University. Log-on to Bison Web, select Student Records, and the Enrollment Verification Request links. You will be routed to the National Student Clearinghouse Student Self Service Site to initiate your request.

Automated Waitlist

The Office of the Registrar is pleased to announce an electronic waitlist system has been added to the fall registration process for selected courses. When a section of a course fills to the enrollment limit, students attempting to register through Bison Web will receive a registration error message that a waitlist exists. The student will then be given the option of adding themselves to the waitlist for the course. If a student already enrolled in the course should drop, that seat will not become available for registration through Bison Web if there is an active waitlist for the course.

Students must attempt to register for the course via the Bison Web in order to be offered the waitlist option. When a seat becomes available, the first student on the waitlist will receive an e-mail notification to their preferred e-mail address (students can confirm their preferred e-mail address on Bison Web) when a seat becomes available. A student will have 24 hours from the time of the e-mail to register for the class through Bison Web. It is the student's responsibility to check their preferred e-mail once on a waitlist. If they do not register for the class during that time period, the seat will be offered to the next student on the waitlist. Registration via Bison Web is available from 9:00am - midnight. Students MUST have an e-mail address on file or they will not receive the notification and lose their opportunity to register.

Any registered class(es) which conflict with the time of the waitlisted course must be dropped through Bison Web before or during the registration for the waitlisted course.

Things to Remember:

Obtaining a space on a waitlist should not be interpreted as a guarantee of getting a seat in the course. Waitlists will accommodate MANY more students than are likely to ultimately gain a seat in the course. This is done to allow departments to more accurately gauge the demand for a course. This information can be used by academic departments in future planning.

Time-conflict checking will not take place with waitlisted courses. Students will be permitted to register for courses which meet at the same time as waitlisted classes. This is done so that students retain the flexibility in their schedule to register for an alternate course. It is the studentís responsibility to drop those conflicting classes through Bison Web if a seat in the waitlisted course becomes available. Students may also waitlist for multiple sections of the same course.

Should students change their mind about desiring a place on a waitlist, they should remove themselves from that particular waitlist through Bison Web, which will allow another student to waitlist for that course.
