From the Commander, Det 130/Howard University AFROTC: Potential Cadets, Thank you for your interest in Air Force Officer Reserve Corps (AFROTC) and Detachment130! We’re looking forward to another successful academic year and want to take the time to invite you to our New Student Orientation. This New Student Orientation will introduce you to the cadre and cadet wing leadership as well as familiarize you with the AFROTC training expectations, customs and courtesies, uniform wear, and scholarship information. The New Student Orientation is scheduled for 21-22 August 2008 from 1000 – 1400 both days (please plan on arriving at least 10 min in advance). The orientation will be held in the Gallery Lounge (located inside Armour J. Blackburn University Center ); however, we will meet at the Detachment in Douglas Hall, Room B-29 where you will be escorted to that location as a group. Light refreshments will be provided. Included in this package is a letter from Capt Darius Taylor, our Commandant of Cadets, providing you with a list of ROTC courses, sports pre-participatory authorization, directions to Howard University, and cadet points of contact for our crosstown universities. We encourage you to contact these cadets, as they can provide first-hand knowledge of cadet life. Lastly, I have attached transportation information to assist you in finding our unit. Our primary goal is to assist you in the transition into our program. We understand that this can be a challenging period for you and we are here to assist you in any way possible. Should your university contact not be able to help you, please feel free to contact Capt Malakia K. Thomas, at 202-806-6791.
