144th CHARTER DAY CONVOCATION
ORATOR: Dr. LaSalle D. Leffall, Jr.

Charter Day is a time of celebration. We celebrate because we are grateful
for the March 2, 1867, approval of the University Charter by
President Andrew Johnson for an institution dedicated to the betterment
of humanity. We are grateful for Howardites - collectively and individually - who,
through individual example and support of their alma mater, exhibit the very spirit
that has marked Howard as one of the great romances in American education.

Each year the University-wide celebration is marked by a special
Charter Day Convocation
on Friday morning and the gala
Charter Day Dinner
on Saturday evening.

You and a Guest to

The "Private Advanced Movie Screening" of

PASTOR BROWN

What do you do when life gives you another chance?

"Pastor Brown – the movie is a powerful update of the Parable of the Lost Son."

PASTOR BROWN easily moves viewers from unexpected tears to genuine laughter.
The movie validates the viewer, letting her know that redemption is available no matter
how far she may have strayed in her life. The film examines our central family connections –
mother/son, father/daughter, sister/sister. And, it models the key ingredient for making
those relationships work: Forgiveness – forgiveness of others and most importantly, forgiveness of oneself.

More than a decade ago, Jessica "Jesse” Brown fled home and family to find purpose in her life.
She supports herself by dancing in strip clubs. When her father falls unexpectedly ill,
Jesse returns home. But going home forces Jesse to confront unresolved issues of jealousy,
abandonment, and rejection by her sister, her teenaged son and others. Jesse’s father’s dying request,
that she take over as pastor of the family’s church Mt. Olive Church, sparks a journey of self-discovery
through which Jesse finds her purpose in life; and, both Jesse and her family work through
the universal themes of forgiveness, restoration, redemption and unconditional love.

A trailer for the film may be viewed at
www.rockcapitalstudios.com.
