Employee Self Service – Live November 9, 2007
Howard University announced the rollout of PeopleSoft's Employee Self-Service (ESS) applications to all employees on November 9, 2007. PeopleSoft's employee self service gives employees the convenient use of the web to view, verify, and change their information.
Employees are able to:
- View Personal Information.
- Request changes to their name.
- Add or edit their home or mailing address.
- Add or edit their phone numbers.
- Add, edit, delete or change their emergency contact information.
- Request marital status changes.
Time Reporting
- Report time to be approved by the manager.
- View their time.
- Adjust leave balances to be approved by the manager.
Payroll & Compensation
- View their current or prior earning statements.
- View, add or edit their direct deposit information.
- View and edit their federal tax withholding exemptions.
- View current compensation amount(s).
- Request a W-2 reissue.
All Howard university employees should request access to Employee Self Service by sending an e-mail to:
humanresources@howard.edu from their Howard University email account to request
access instructions. Be sure to include your PeopleSoft Employee ID in the email. Your nine
digit Employee ID can be found on your paycheck, pay stub or direct deposit advise. The PeopleSoft helpdesk can also be called at 6-7899 for access.

eBenefits - Offers employee self-service benefits transactions including:
- Open enrollment, plan changes, dependent and personal data maintenance, and life event processing.
- Pre-integrated links connect employees directly with benefits suppliers. It moves beyond paperless employee self-service transactions to provide the information employees need to maximize the value of their benefits plan.
- Automate administrative tasks related to benefits and payroll.
- Online access for employees to their benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, insurance, and savings plans.
- Selection of benefit choices including elections, validations, confirmation statements, and other related content.
- Elections or changes allowed by program rules.
Access to complete benefits information and transactions from a single page and with a single logon.
- Benefits information on summary-level pages links to appropriate plans
Pension Administration will enable Howard to manage multiple, complex, defined-benefit plans with a single pure internet solution that Howard can configure to match its unique plan rules. It will allow Howard to automate tasks ranging from pension calculations to tracking service credit, produce reports, and provide critical information to use when counseling plan participants.
Pension Administration will:
- Enable plan participants to project pension benefits via the Internet by using PeopleSoft Enterprise eBenefits' Self-Service Estimate Pension function.
