| Description |
This course will describe the roles and responsibilities and tasks of Human Resources, Budget and departments in the hiring or reappointment process. The hiring of employees is a collaborative process. The first requirement is that a budget position must exist before an employee selection can begin. End users will initiate an employee requisition identifying an existing budget position or will request the Budget Office to create the position. The HR office will post the position, collect applications and enter qualified applications into PeopleSoft. Departments will be notified of the qualified applicants and will review applicant information online, manage and record the interview process and notify HR of the candidate it wishes to hire. HR will make the hiring offer and once orientation is complete, the HR office will make the hire official.
Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Create a job opening (Request to Fill)
- View Status of the Job Opening
- Initiate a reappointment
- View status of the reappointment
- Approve pending requests (authorized personnel only)
- View all HU vacant positions via Employee Self Service (ESS)
- Apply for any HU vacant positions via Employee Self Service (ESS)

Manager Self Service |
| Description |
The Manager Self Service (MSS) module will replace the Personnel Recommendation form, Wage Recommendation form, Request to Fill form as well as the Budget Recommendation form. Where approval is needed for completion of a transaction, the system automatically triggers an email notification for the appropriate approving authorities with a workflow back up notification system. Where the only approval required is the manager’s, the manager can initiate and complete the transaction.
Instead of carrying and following paper forms around campus, your requests will be submitted online and you will be able to access the status of these requests.
Upon successful completion of the course participants will be able to:
- View limited personal data (address, email, phone, emergency contacts)
- View employee training records
- Request a separation or retirement
- Request incidental pay
- Request new or re-allocate positions from OTC and Budget
- Approve pending requests
- View status of requests

Employee Self Service |
| Description |
This session will address how employees can view and/or modify their own data to:
- Request leave approval
- Report time and request leave adjustments
- Approve reported time and leave adjustments (approvers only)
- View all HU job opening
- Apply for vacant job opening
- Request changes to name.
- Add or edit home or mailing address.
- Add or edit phone numbers.
- Add, edit, delete or change emergency contact information.
- Request marital status changes.
- View current pay stubs three days before payday.
- View and print prior pay stubs since conversion to PeopleSoft.
- View, add or edit direct deposit information.
- View and edit federal tax withholding exemptions.
- View current compensation amount(s).
- Request a W-2 reissue.

| Description |

- Be introduced to the new Chart of Accounts
- Learn the translation of FRS account codes to PS account codes
- Perform budget inquiries for total budget, expenses, encumbrances, pre-encumbrances, and budget balances for a project or department
- Learn the steps necessary for drilling down to details
