End User Workstations*

The Howard University PeopleSoft Application is purely web accessible. To access the application, you must be connected to the Howard University network.


There is no individual end user installation required; no PeopleSoft software resides on the end user workstation. The browser is all that is needed.

For optimal performance, use certified PeopleSoft web browsers and client operating systems.


Not all web browsers work equally well and will vary the performance of your PeopleSoft Applications. The HU LEADS PeopleSoft Project recommends the following:

  • For the functional user, where performance and reliability are key, Internet Explorer 5, 5.5, or 6 is recommended web browsers running on Windows NT, 2000, or XP.

This combination has shown to be the most stable platform. While operating systems other than Windows are listed as supported, not all features may work. Also, it has been established that some non-supported browsers seem to work, e.g., Firefox, Safari. However, since these browsers are not supported by PeopleSoft, Howard does not support them either.


The following are the certified web browsers supported by PeopleSoft for use with the current version.

Internet browsers not listed are not supported.


The following are the recommended workstation requirements.

  • 256 MB RAM recommended (64 MB RAM minimum)
  • 800 MHz Pentium or equivalent processor (Pentium 166 MHz minimum)
  • VGA controller and display of 800x600 resolution or higher and High Color (16 bit) mode for the best display results.

Please make sure any pop-up blockers are turned off when accessing the PeopleSoft site.
