You Didn't
Candice Jackson
Atlanta, Georgia - International Business

You didn’t have to care for me,
But if you didn’t where would I be?
You didn’t have to stay by my side,
But you did, and now I have someone
In whom I can confide.
You didn’t have to tell me you loved me,
But if you didn’t, love would have no meaning for me.
You didn’t have to open your heart,
But you did and now I’m inside and can never depart.
You didn’t have to listen to me when I was in pain,
But you did, and now of my pain I am not ashamed.
You didn’t have to be that shoulder for me to cry on,
But you were and now I’ve grown strong.
You didn’t have to do or be a lot of things,
But you did and you were.
That is what I will always be thankful for.
