The Return
Susan Walker
Fredericksburg, Virginia - Print Journalism
She went to the train stop alone that cold morning.
Her stomach
protruding through her beat up winter coat.
Swollen ankles
stuffed into high-heeled pumps,
making the
long
walk
more difficult than before.
So many emotions;
so much passion;
love, destiny, forever together
It all came to a screeching halt
like the train that took her from one life
To the next
And then the next.
What would become of it,
he, she? Maybe.
Maybe not.
What is the future?
Where did she go wrong?
Was it when she believed the lies?
Was it when she lied?
With him, without him?
Was it when she was given the greatest gift and only wanted to give it
back to the
Giver?
She wondered whether or not her life would ever be normal again as she
boarded the train.
