Faces & Voices IV
AN ANTHOLOGY OF VERSE AND PROSE

HEd
Ashley McFarlin

He sometimes strolls through
When I think
Of the others- interrupting- he
Impresses his footprints
On my thoughts
Leaving a trail
Only trained hearts
Can follow.
He sometimes sits beside me
When I’m with
The others.
Unseen, his fingertips
Nibble on my nose
Tickling my nostrils
Soothing my soul.
When I’m away from the others
He calls me.
The promise of his embrace
Draws me blindly in no particular direction
I wonder when
I wonder where
He’ll find me with the others
Lost, listening, loving, laughing, lusting,
Losing, lying, living, longing, lagging
Behind.
He’ll find me
Snatch me
Grab me
Take me
And make me
Hand over my whole heart to him.
