CYBERCAMP
CyberCamp Objectives
The Digital Learning Classroom in the
Founders Library is the home base for this computer adventure. CyberCamp
is designed to strengthen the information technology skills of youth in
the Washington metropolitan area. Campers will also interview selected
Howard University faculty, explore biographical and historical websites
on the Internet and visit major cultural centers on actual field trips.
By the end of the camp, participants will navigate the Internet effectively
and have a broad knowledge of the cultural heritage of noteworthy professionals
with socio-cultural or business ties to the District of Columbia.
At the end of the CyberCamp students
will:

exhibit technological literacy

send, read, and reply to e-mail messages

construct effective search strategies
for selected search engines and databases

construct a web page

logically organize data gathered through
observation or interviewing

describe how the cultural and educational
resources in a community can influence a resident's career choice

recognize the contributions of African
Americans to the culture and character of the city and the nation
