Mission & Purpose
Welcome to the new
Media Center. We have expanded the scope of this facility to
accommodate our students, faculty and other patrons who need to use
computer-based applications in their respective learning, teaching and
research activities. We are accommodating the ever increasing need for
access to the proliferating body of dynamic information that is now
available almost exclusively through, web-based applications, CD-ROM,
DVD and other digital media.
The new Media
Center is currently the only student computing facility in the
Undergraduate Library. The Center will continue to offer its
traditional audio/visual services and hold the library’s collection of
non-print materials including 16mm films, videotapes, audiotapes,
phonograph records, slides, and filmstrips.
Facilities
The Center has stations equipped with networked computers, video and
audio cassette players, slide projectors, and filmstrip projectors.
Three classrooms are available to faculty/staff for multimedia group
presentations. Four small listening room are available for individuals
to playback recorded materials.
Access Policies
The Center is open to all members of the University community.
Equipment and facilities are available on a first come, first served
basis, except for the classrooms which must be reserved in advance.
Call (202) 806-5435 to reserve space in the Media Center.
A valid Howard University ID card must
