Rubrics

"A rubric is a tool designed to present students with a concise description of what constitutes quality work. It helps a student understand how an assignment will be evaluated and can assist a teacher with determining if the student's work meets all requirements being assessed." GRADING WITH RUBRICS

"Rubrics are guides that help to score and grade the performance of students. Rubrics can be used by both instructors and students when creating, scoring, grading, or providing feedback on course tasks and assignments. These performance guides can help to provide a common understanding between students and instructors regarding the learning and performance expectations. Rubrics can also be used to evaluate student work collected for purposes of assessment, program evaluation, and improvement of student learning." MEASURES, RUBRICS, & TOOLS FOR ASSESSING STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

"Research shows that students can improve their writing through self-evaluation and peer review, if they follow appropriate guidelines." WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
