People Who Care
Join the Friends of the Library, a group of alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of Howard University who share a love for knowledge and a desire to promote the vital role the library plays in the academic life of the University and in society. Friends also provide financial support for resources and services that benefit learners in the University community and at large.

A Place Rich in
Knowledge & Diversity

From the Library's humble beginning in 1867, to its current ranking among the nation's largest academic and research libraries, the Library's philosophy has remained unchanged: to help people learn. The Friends are dedicated to the Library's mission to provide the highest standards in service and resources that support the University's mission for excellence in learning/teaching, scholarship and service.
