A Peek
Anika Seals
New Orleans, Louisiana - International Business

So…you think that you’ve got me all figured out-
Got a peek into my soul
And that you know all my ambitions and fantasies untold?
Let me tell you that you’ve got it wrong.
By the time I end this song,
This, my expression,
You will have learned a helpful lesson,
Important in life.

Do not assume anything because you will make a WHAT out of you and me.
You don’t know what makes me go
My fuel, my fire
What takes me higher,
To that other level unexplored by most;
Don’t misunderstand,
For I am not trying to boast.

Really, all I want to do is make clear
That the essence of a person is not uncovered in a year.
Nor a decade or three.
To grasp the true epitome of someone
May span eternity.

Do not make conclusions with the first glance-
Stop, think, listen…
Everyone deserves that chance.
