Students converge on the Yard
To laugh, play, study and relax.
The scene on the Yard is usually one of motion.
Motion by students, birds and other animals,
All going about their daily routines.
On a warm summer day, the wind blows through the trees.
The sun shines brightly, showering everyone with its rays of light.
It reminds me of a place in Trinidad,
The Queens Park Savannah.
When the Poui trees surrounding the savannah bloom,
It is definitely a sight to see.
These enormous trees dazzle us with their brightly colored flowers,
Red, yellow and orange, such pleasant colors.
People relaxing, talking, playing, exercising,
Simply enjoying spending time together.
Although I’m miles away from home,
The atmosphere on the Yard brings a piece of home to me.
