Faces & Voices 4

By Khadine Clifford

Have I ever told you how much I love you?
Have I shown it enough times?
Do you feel like I pay you any mind?
Or do you feel chastised?
Do I cast you away like the others?
Do I hurt your feelings? Make you cry?
Have I told you how honored I am to know you?
Have I shown that anytime?

You have always been there for me.
You watched movies with me, prayed with me, ate with me.
You were:
Someone to talk to,
To play pranks on,
Someone to laugh with,
A shoulder to cry on;
To play games with,
To tell secrets to,
To have fun with;
To hug, to hurt, listen to and love.

With that light in your eyes you captivate people.
No one can escape your contagious guffaw.
Your focus inspires me; I covet it.
To know you is perpetual joy.

I want you to know that I love you.
I want you to know that I care.
I want to tell you Iím sorry,
When my secrets I would not share.
Iím sorry if I ignored you,
And at times when I was bitter,
The privilege was mine to know you.
Yours truly, your dearest sister.
