To Love You
By Maya Edmondson

This is the story of my love
The Confession of my heart
Told to this priestly paper
By intervention of this pen.
All of my secrets
Unlocked on this page.
Viewed by your eyes.
My soul made vulnerable
By your comportment
Emotions unveiled
By any word you might speak
And yet,
To love you is my greatest joy
My sustenance,
My sanity.
To love you is my greatest honor
Just to know that you are there
And maybe,
God willing,
You might love me too.
To love you is my greatest challenge.
For everyday, my love for you grows
Enveloping my entire being.
And yet you do not know.
To love you is my greatest sadness,
Rejection is my greatest fear,
You might not love me as I love you.
And still I adore you
Want you
Need you
Cherish you
And you…
And you…
And you don’t know.
But to love you,
To love you,
Is my greatest reward.
