'"Bison"
The
sculpture that you have seen in front of
Carnegie Hall was a gift to the university
from Hobart Taylor, a former member of Howard
University Board of Trustees. Taylor passed
in April of 1980 and later had the sculpture "Symbiosis" donated
to Howard University. The sculpture was created by
Richard Hunt.
Symbiosis, meaning a relationship of mutual benefit or dependence, was dedicated
to Howard University on Dec. 2, 1981. The sculpture was made out of corten steel
and it stands nine feet tall and four feet wide.
According to the Art Resource Technical Service in Maryland, the sculpture has
been appraised at a value of $50,000.
