The Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science (MS)² is a public charter school committed to academic excellence, with a specific focus on mathematics and science.
We are dedicated to ensuring that all children receive a quality education regardless of their circumstance. (MS)² offers an extremely rigorous academic program with accelerated instruction in all subject areas. A serious commitment to the learning process is required of all students who attend our school. In addition, we believe that active parental support is a key ingredient in the success of children; and we require regular and systematic parent involvement by all of the parents of our students.
For the 2008-2009 School Year, (MS)² will be accepting applications for the 6th and 7th grade. All application packages must be delivered in person to (MS)², located at 405 Howard Place, NW. Please note that the application includes a separate section that must be completed and signed by the student. To apply please submit the following documents:
- Parent Application (PLEASE USE BLUE OR BLACK INK)
- Student Application (PLEASE USE BLUE OR BLACK INK)
- Teacher/ Principal Referral on a school letterhead
- Student’s most recent report card
Completed applications will be received Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from Monday, February 25, 2008 through Friday, April 18, 2008. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Enrollment in (MS)² is available to D.C. residents only, and will be on a first come, first serve basis, with your slot being registered at the time and date that your completed application is received. Any applications received after April 18th will be added to the School’s waiting list.
For the 6th grade only, a public lottery will be held on April 24th at 6:00 pm in the school auditorium to determine which students will be enrolled.
