(MS)² Internship Program

The Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science (MS)² is now accepting Internship Applications for the 2012-2013 School Year. Applicants for the Internship Program must have completed the freshman year, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.85. Majors in Math, Science, Education, Engineering, Information Systems, English and Spanish are desirable, but not required. Graduate students in these areas are strongly encouraged to apply.

(MS)² currently offers three categories of intern positions: Auxiliary, In-Class, and Extended Enrichment. Auxiliary Interns work with the students during their breakfast, lunch, and freecess periods. They assist with meal distribution, maintenance of order, and clean up between each grade level's lunch.

In-Class Interns work with the teachers in the classrooms - assisting students with assignments, working with small groups, and grading papers. Extended Enrichment Interns work with the students during the extracurricular period Mondays-Thursdays, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm. They may lead clubs (Chess, Robotics, Architecture, etc) or engage small groups of students in activities focused on math, science, technology, and athletics.

Volunteer positions for freshmen are also available.

Applications can be filled out and submitted online and are being accepted on a continuous basis throughout the school year, but the priority submission deadline for the Fall 2012 semester is Thursday, May 31, 2012.
