NEW IMPORTANT INFORMATION
RE: MANDATORY SCHOOL MAKE UP SNOW DAYS

Dear (MS)² Family:

According to the revised regulations set by the District of Columbia Public Charter School Board, the Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science (MS)2 is not required to make up any snow days. Due to our extended school day, we are in compliance with the required instructional days outlined in our charter. Please disregard our previous notice for make-up school days.
Students will NOT be required to attend school on the following dates:

  • Saturday, April 24th – 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Saturday, May 22nd – 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Monday, June 14th – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Tuesday, June 15th – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Wednesday, June 16th – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Saturday April 24th and May 22nd will convert back into the previously scheduled Saturday Academies. The last day of school will be June 11, 2010. We apologize if this has caused any inconvenience to your personal schedules. Please note that we will be redistributing the school calendar, as well as updating it on our website at www.howard.edu/ms2 as soon as possible. Mandatory school make-up snow days

Dear (MS)² Family:

Due to the loss of instructional days because of the recent snowstorms, Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science (MS)² has been required to create seven make-up days of instruction for our students. The DC Public Charter School Board mandates that we provide a specified number of instructional days to ensure that our students receive the maximum educational opportunity at (MS)². The following dates are the approved mandatory school make-up snow days:

  • Monday, March 8th – 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM

    Parent/Teacher Conferences @ 1:30 – 5:30 PM

    (abbreviated due to new schedule)

  • Saturday, March 20th – 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Saturday, April 24th – 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Saturday, May 22nd – 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Monday, June 14th – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Tuesday, June 15th – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Wednesday, June 16th – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

As you can see, our last day of school will be Wednesday, June 16th. Please note changes made to the final examination schedule on the revised school calendar. Also, please be advised that these make-up days are mandatory days of instruction. Therefore, if your child is not present in school on these days, they will be marked absent on their school attendance record.
