African American Arts and Letters: Sheet Music Collection

One of the Manuscript Division’s most significant components is the Sheet Music Collection, consisting of more than 3,000 pieces of sheet music by Black composers, dating from the early 19th century to the present. The selections which follow were composed by some of the most popular musicians of the era.
