Welcome to the Office of the Laureate Scholar Program and Undergraduate Programs of Excellence!

The LSUPE Office is located in the Carnegie Building on the First Floor. We support and work with several different programs within the office, including the Laureate Scholar Program and the Howard University Amgen Scholar Program.

Among our goals is increasing the number of high achieving students at Howard University, continuing to support our students in applying for and receiving prestigious scholarships, and helping our students liaise with the University community.

Laureate Scholar Program

The Laureate Scholar Program is a scholarship program for students who have been selected as finalists through the National Achievement Scholarship Program. These students are first selected as Semifinalists through their PSAT scores, then invited to apply for Finalist status.

Howard University waives the application fee for Semifinalists and Finalists. Finalists are eligible for the Laureate Scholarship, which includes tuition & mandatory fees, room, board, and a book stipend.

Howard University Amgen Scholars Program

The Howard University Amgen Scholars Program (HUSAP) offers students enrolled in four-year colleges and universities throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and other U.S.territories the chance to participate in a science and bio-technology summer research program at Howard University.

During their summer at Howard University, Howard University Amgen Scholars will conduct meaningful research projects under the supervision of world renowned researchers, participate in social activities in the Washington, DC area, and engage with scientists and entities outside of the University.

University Honors Programs

Howard University has several honors programs located in the schools & colleges throughout the university. Through the Honors Programs, students have the opportunity to be exposed to prestigious scholarship opportunities, special classes, and enhanced specialized training in their areas of interest. Currently, the University offers the College of Arts & Sciences Honors Program, the School of Business Executive Leadership (SBEL) Honors Program, and the Annenberg Honors Program in the School of Communications.

Competitive Scholarships

Howard University is invested in assisting our students to obtain prestigious scholarships such as a Rhodes Scholarship or Fulbright Fellows grant. Here you can find information on the various scholarships, as well as internal and external deadlines and a campus contact for advice and assistance. We are proud to have had several recipients of these scholarships as current or former Howard students, and we look forward to many more.
