FAQs

Do I have to pay for transportation?

Yes, you do. We will pay all of your expenses once you are here (food, activities, etc.), but travel expenses to and from the University are your responsibility.

How do I get from the bus/train/airport to the University?

Click here for information on getting to the University, there is also a link on the main Weekend at the Mecca page.   Each student will be assigned a host for the weekend, and they will coordinate with their host regarding getting to the University.

Are there activities for parents at Weekend at the Mecca?

Not at Weekend at the Mecca, but the Weekend does coincide with the University’s Open House, and there are some activities for parents there.  If your parents have questions, feel free to have them call me or email me.

What should I wear/bring?

March has come in like a lion, but we're hoping that it will go out like a lamb. We expect temperatures in the 50's and 60's for Weekend at the Mecca. However, Washington, DC is known for sometimes having spring cold snaps and/or heat waves, so check the weather before you come.  You will be attending one “dress up” event, the Spirit of Washington cruise.  I suggest at least slacks and button downs for the gentlemen, dresses or skirts for the ladies.

Also, please make sure to bring some sort of picture ID with you. You will need it to sign into the dorms.
