WASHINGTON (February 26, 2014) – Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. Jamie Dimon will deliver the keynote address at the Howard University 147th Charter Day Convocation on Friday, March 7 at 11 a.m. in Cramton Auditorium.

In 2006, Dimon was named chief executive officer of JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States, and became chairman one year later. He has helmed the bank since JPMorgan Chase's merger with Bank One Corporation in 2004. Named Institutional Investor’s CEO of the Year in 2011, Dimon has had a long career in investment banking. He serves on the boards of several corporations and non-profit organizations, including the United Negro College Fund.

This year’s Charter Day celebration marks the 147th anniversary of the charter enacted by Congress, and subsequently approved by President Andrew Johnson on March 2, 1867, which established Howard University.

The 90th Annual Charter Day Dinner will be held at The Washington Hilton hotel on Saturday, March 8 at 7 p.m. (General Reception at 6 p.m.). The University will honor four alumni for their extraordinary accomplishments in their respective fields: Dr. Patricia E. Bath, in the fields of medicine, ophthalmology, and research; T. Eloise Foster, in the field of Public Service; Dr. James H. Johnson, Jr., in the field of STEM education; and Dr. LaSalle D. Leffall, Jr., in the fields of medicine, surgery and public health.
